Welcome to the Unsustainable Future

So here we have decided to sit back and enjoy the show whilst sitting atop an ever growing pile of baked beans, shotgun shells and jerry cans full of panic-bought petrol.

We are all running out of cheap oil, rare-earth resources, space and the ability to pollute. Not only that but demand is also rising for the few remaining resources that we have left.

There are many different forums concerning all the different issues that people think are at the root of today's problem; monetary reform, peak oil, politics, environmental damage, economics, high house prices, conspiracy theories etc. But if you solved one problem all the others would remain. For example, if cheap oil was somehow renewable our consumption would still face being curbed by all the other problems and rising demand. There is no silver bullet because it all stems from human nature. Humanity is facing what some people call the Long Emergency.

This site discusses our impending and inevitable doom from a global, regional and personal perspective. What should governments be doing? What can they do? What should we be doing? How much of a problem is this? By collaborating and sharing knowledge and information, we can all get a better idea of what awaits us and how best to cope. It also means that we can tell others in the future, yeah, I was discussing this stuff years ago ...
